A CCVD is a group, formed by the village, made up of children who want to investigate their problems and then solve them. The concept is based on the active participation of girls and boys – all young people in the familial, social, economic, political and cultural arenas. It involves an incremental process through which the children develop the skills, understanding and values that will help them with decision-making and ultimately achieving outcomes at the local, national and international levels. This should occur in an environment which recognises them as competent social actors and responsible citizens.
This fact sheet provides information about and guidance on creating and sustaining Children’s Committees for Village Development.
