SAIEVAC, South Asia Initiative to End Violence against Children
Child friendly version of the Report of the SAIEVAC Children’s Consultation and the Technical Consultation on Care Standards and Child Friendly Services, held in Kathmandu 24 – 29 September 2011. The event was organised by the Secretariat of the South Asia Initiative to End Violence Against Children (SAIEVAC), with support of the South Asia Coordinating Group on Action against Violence against Women and Children (SACG), as a a follow up to the recommendations of the 1st SAIEVAC Governing Board Meeting held in Kathmandu on 10-11 November 2010. The Technical Consultation was preceded by a two day preparatory Regional Children’s Consultation with participation of children from the eight SAARC countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The child delegates met to discuss Care Standards and Child Friendly Services for children, contributing actively on the issue, and independently sharing views and experiences at the regional level. This report summarises all the extensive deliberations and includes eleven recommendations for the governments of the SAARC region, for submission to the 2nd SAIEVAC Governing Board meeting taking place 29 and 30 September 2011.
