Children and young people in action, participating in budget work

Acknowledging that social budgeting is an important indicator for governments and their representatives to show their commitment to childhood by assigning resources, Save the Children Sweden has supported analyses of public budgets with focus on childhood and developed systems in which children are involved in the social investment of municipalities. This publication summarises the experiences of CEDECA-Ceará (Center for the Defence of Child and Adolescent/Ceará, Brazil) in broadening the right to participation of children and young people, particularly in the drafting and monitoring of the municipal budget earmarked for this segment of the population in Brazil.
