Save the Children Norway
This overview report, commissioned by Save the Children Norway, presents an analysis and summary of contemporary research concerning the relationship between children and climate change. Current research reveals that, among children, the poor, the young and girls are disproportionally affected. Also, factors such as health, security, and education are found to be interrelated and highly complex – dependent on vulnerability, exposure, and also severity of the climate event(s). The report also posits that children, competent agents with voices to be heard, have a number of practical roles to play when addressing climate change. While children are increasingly taken into account in climate change adaptation activities and the debate, this report calls for more research and action in order to understand how climate change affects children in different regions and under different emissions scenarios.
