Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) is a rights based and gender transformative approach to enhance adolescent knowledge and skills around sexuality, with the goal of enabling young people to make informed desicions and choices. It is largely focused on individuals, families and communities, addressing both personal perceptions, family values and norms and beliefs in society. CSE further promotes supportive environments through advocating for policies and laws that enhances inclusivity, gender equality and human rights.
This introduction describes CSE, but also the core pillars of Save the Children International’s program for Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR) which was developed to build capacity and shape the behaviour of youth through CSE and the provision of information.
