UNICEF, United Nations Children's Fund

Children, who account for nearly half of South Sudan’s population of 11 million, bear the highest cost of violence. Growing up in an environment of conflict and economic crisis, children face death, harm, starvation, disease, military recruitment, displacement, and loss of education on a daily basis.

Escalation of the conflict and travel restrictions further jeopardize the delivery of aid, which in turn contributes to greater vulnerability of children. With this brief, UNICEF calls for more support to ensure that the children of South Sudan are able to survive and thrive in their current situation.
