Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers
Supplementary report to Liberia’s initial report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, prepared by The Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers. In the context of ongoing conflict, reports indicate that the Armed Forces of Liberia have continued to recruit children, both forcibly and voluntarily, in Monrovia and government-controlled areas. The non-state armed groups, the Liberians United for Reconciliation and Democracy (LURD) and the Movement for
Democracy in Liberia (MODEL), also reportedly continue to recruit children.
