Cash and Child Protection reviews evidence from programmes where cash injections into households are explicitly intended to achieve child protection outcomes. Case studies are included of programmes providing cash grants to foster carers for vulnerable children in Indonesia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Liberia. And an extended case study looks at a cash transfer programme to prevent child labour after the 2010 floods in Pakistan. This report then considers evidence of indirect impact – where cash transfers to improve education, nutrition, or food security and livelihoods have led to unintended outcomes on child protection. A series of recommendations set out how cash transfer programming can be designed to achieve child protection outcomes
