Case study – Zimbabwe. Child Rights Governance Initiative

This case study is about Save the Children’s support to child-led groups in Zimbabwe. Children have the right to have their voices and opinions heard and participate in activities of interest or concern to them. This right applies to their families, communities, schools and in government processes. In Zimbabwe, as in so many other countries around the world, children still have limited opportunity to meaningful participation in the governance of their country. To address this, Save the Children has supported the establishment and running of child led groups. The aim of these groups is to create a platform where children can come together to discuss and raise awareness on child rights, demonstrate the importance of involving children to their peers and the communities, and to engage with decision-makers on different issues.
