Case Study. Preventing child abuse in Lithuania

This Case Study from Lithuania concerns a long-term social initiative for parents called “Raise Responsibly” implemented by Save the Children, and aimed at teaching and working with parents to decrease the incidence of domestic violence in families. In Lithuania, Save the Children is campaigning for the prohibition of corporal punishment within the family, at school, or within the childcare and justice system. ‘Raise Responsibly’ creates a public mandate against school and family based violence, builds the capacity of adults within and outside the family to engage with children in a meaningful and nurturing way and advocates for legislation and systems to protect children’s rights to a life without violence and fear
