The Government of Bangladesh (GoB) was one of the first countries to sign and ratify the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). As a follow-up, the GoB submitted the first report on the situation of children in Bangladesh in the year 1994. Pursuant to Article 44, paragraph 1 of UNCRC, the second report was submitted to the United Nations in 1996. Reports subsequent to the second report are meant for submission once every 5 years. This report is a Supplementary Report to Bangladesh’s second periodic report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, submitted by the Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar (Child Rights) Forum, an apex body of 133 NGOs working for promoting and protecting child rights in the country since 1990. This report supplements the one submitted by the Government on the situation of the children in Bangladesh between 1996 to 2000, and is prepared following the UN Committee Guidelines article by article.
