Beyond a Snapshot: Learning Lessons from the Terre des Hommes International Campaign against Child Trafficking (2001-2011)

Terre des Hommes (TDH) embarked on a ten year International Campaign against Child Trafficking (ICaCT). In order to find out what truly was achieved by the campaign, this independent review was commissioned to a well-known international consultant on human rights. The lessons learned from the ICaCT are shared to increase the relevance of the future work of TDH and others. 

The ICaCT advocated measures to protect trafficked children while pointing out the need to address the broader socioeconomic conditions that feed the phenomenon. The most appropriate measures to prevent children being trafficked or exploited include general child protection measures, according to the findings of TDH. The findings presented in this report focus on both the broad socioeconomic conditions, and child protection measures at both local and national levels. There is also a section with advice on how to coordinate and organize such a campaign.
