HPG, Humanitarian Policy Group

HPG is working to decolonise its research approaches and practices, reflecting on how knowledge is produced and reproduced through a Global North lens. This paper forms part of a two-year research project, Partnering for a localised humanitarian research agenda, undertaken as part of HPG’s 2022–2024 Integrated Programme of research. That project saw researchers from HPG and Neem Foundation – a leading humanitarian response organisation based in Abuja, Nigeria – form a partnership, starting from a blank slate to deliver a research project based on shared objectives, expertise and skills. The resulting working paper (Bryant et al., 2024) was launched at a joint event in Abuja in May 2024.
