Behind the Uniform: Training the military in child rights and child protection in Africa

This report is a documentation of how the military training programme works, its approaches, successes and challenges. It is based on evaluation reports, questionnaires and interviews bringing out personal observations by the militaries themselves. The report seeks to be a useful tool for spreading knowledge and generating interest in the programme among other humanitarian and human rights actors, regional and international institutions as well as donors and governments. Any soldier, peacekeeper, police officer or other adult in uniform participating in the training -regardless of the country or context -has the chance to make an informed choice to protect children when this is needed– a choice that could have great impact on children
