The “Safe Back to School” (SB2S) project, implemented in 12 primary schools in Quang Binh province, Vietnam, aims to ensure education continuity and a safe learning environment amidst disruptions like natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic. This baseline survey, conducted in November 2021, provides an initial assessment of the project’s focus areas: education continuity, safe learning environments, and resilience-building. Key findings reveal significant challenges, including low student participation in remote learning, inadequate safety measures in school facilities, and insufficient knowledge among teachers and students on critical topics such as child protection and mental health. These insights underscore the urgent need for targeted interventions to enhance educational resilience and safety, ensuring that all children can continue their education in a secure and supportive environment.
