Save the Children Sweden
The survey shows that barely 20% of the children who come to Sweden with their families are interviewed by the Migration instances that bear responsibility for asylum procedures in Sweden. The survey also shows the deficiencies in the decisions of the Migration authorities with regard to children seeking asylum in their own right. The report highlights the importance of raising the level of competence of Migration staff working with children to enhance their understanding of the situation of asylum seeking children in Sweden. Chapter 7 of this survey lists 87 cases of asylum-seeking children handled by the Swedish Migration Board during autumn 2002.
