Key trends showcased in this report:

  • At least 10,6000 migrant and refugee arrivals in the Balkans made this migration route one of two most travelled European migratory routes in the second quarter of 2019.
  • The route through Bosnia and Herzegovina remained the key route in the Western Balkans
  • More than 88,000 refugees and migrants were present in the Balkans in the reporting period
  • Children make about one-third of all refugees and migrants transiting through the Balkans with many of them travelling alone
