Att upptäcka våld mot barn – om rutinfrågor inom elevhälsan

Save the Children Sweden has carried out a research study on the necessary conditions for talking with students about violence in primary schools. Routine questions on violence against children can be considered a preventative measure; early discovery of violence increases the chances for the affected child to receive early supportive services. Initiating a dialogue on violence can contribute to breaking the taboo of talking, as violence is something that we can and need to talk about.

Save the Children Sweden asserts that personnel, who regularly have contact with children, should have knowledge of the consequences of violence as well as the skills to ask children about its different forms. In addition, a system must exist on how to react once information on child abuse has been acquired.

This study shows that interest and preparedness exists within student health to take on the question of establishing a practice of routine questioning on violence.

The report is targeted towards professionals within schools, especially principles and student health professionals, teachers, extra-curricular personnel and other adults. It is also directed towards all students, with special consideration towards those students who live with abuse.
