The ECHO ARISE Nkhotakota Flood Response After-Action Review (AAR) provided an opportunity for the Actions’ consortium partners– Ministry of Education, Girls Empowerment Network, Save the Children, and key national and district stakeholders to reflect on the implementation of the emergency response in Traditonal Authority (T/A) Kanyenda, Nkhotakota District. The review examined what worked well, key challenges and gaps, beneficiary and frontline perspectives, and lessons to strengthen future emergency preparedness and response.

The response was implemented against significant flooding that affected communities across Nkhotakota, including displacement into school-based camps and disruption to education, livelihoods, health, WASH and child protection. Through the ECHO ARISE crisis modifier the Action supported an integrated response covering Education in Emergencies, CPHA/MHPSS, Health and WASH, Food Security/Cash, RCCE/SBCC and related accountability and coordination activities.
