Annual Report 2011: Child Rights Governance Initiative

The Global Child Rights Governance Initiative (CRGI) deals with the fundamentals of rights and governance, which is crucial in all that Save the Children is doing for children, be it through improving health conditions, education or protection. The CRGI Annual Report for 2011 focuses mainly on establishing Child Rights Governance (CRG) within Save the Children and reaching a common understanding about CRG and its importance. The seven regional consultations that were conducted to this end, fully achieved the objectives of learning about ongoing CRG work in the different regions; generating a joint platform for understanding CRG and what CRGI is; identifying resources within the regions and needs for technical support; and understanding the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) and the African Charter mechanisms.
