An Alternative Report to the Fifth State Party Periodic Report to UNCRC

In 1990, Bangladesh ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). In fulfilling its reporting obligation, Bangladesh has since submitted five Periodic Reports. This publication provides a critical assessment of the Fifth Periodic Report, submitted by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in October 2012. Further recommendations are given for the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child to be made to the Government of Bangladesh to improve the situation of child rights in the country. These recommendations are accompanied by a descriptive analysis of the situation and implementation of the UNCRC in Bangladesh.
