Women, older persons, survivors of gender-based violence (GBV), children, youth, persons with disabilities and LGBTI persons are often marginalized and have specific vulnerabilities that must be addressed. In addition, being a refugee or asylum-seeker often increases these risks and reduces access to crucial services. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential that humanitarian operations remain in contact with these specific groups to analyze the impact of personal characteristics to inform protection risk mitigation.
This guidance on age, gender and diversity considerations in relation to the COVID-19 response is intended as a reference tool to support humanitarian actors working in the field with populations of concern.
