Adaptation and Pilot of the Change through Culture Approach in Mali

This brief describes Save the Children’s experience adapting and piloting the Change through Culture approach under Sponsorship Program in Mali. Change through Culture is a social and behavior change approach that engages traditional gatekeepers – in this case grandmothers – as champions for adolescent health. It builds on and valorizes the traditional role grandmothers can play in protecting girls’ and boys’ health, connecting them with services and ending harmful traditional practices. Save the Children piloted the approach in Sikasso, Mali from 2019-2021.
