Act, support and protect. South Asia Forum for Ending Violence against Children

This booklet describes, in a child-friendly way, outcomes of the South Asia Forum for Ending Violence Against Children held in Pakistan in July 2006. It summarises discussions on early marriage and physical and psychological punishment held by 12 children attending the Regional Children’s Consultation preceding the forum, as well as country and expert presentations at the forum. The early marriage discussion covered its causes; how it affects children at the family, community and school level; and what the government, NGOs and the children themselves can do about it. The physical and psychological punishment discussion outlined how it is manifested in the family, school, community and workplace; its causes and effects; and what children, parents, teachers, communities and government can do to stop it.
