Women's Refugee Commission
Investigation of hundreds and thousands of Burmese refugee women and children who have fled into neighbouring Thailand as a result of armed conflict and rampant human rights violations. The Women’s Commission for Refugee Women and Children (Women’s Commission) sent a fact-finding delegation to Thailand in April 2004 to assess the extent to which refugees and persons in refugee-like circumstances from Burma are vulnerable to trafficking. The purpose of the assessment was to evaluate the gaps in protection efforts on behalf of people in refugee-like circumstances that put such individuals at risk of trafficking.
