Reported presented by Child Helpline International (CHI) to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Annually child helplines receive 11.3 million calls from children and youth needing care and protection worldwide. Protecting the rights of children is paramount to the well-being of the population of Uganda, as more than 50% of the population are children. If the government of Uganda supports the establishment of a 3-4 digit, toll-free, 24-hour national helpline for children, the child helpline has the potential to answer over 2.2 million calls annually with the existing technological infrastructure in the country.
