Suchana Resource Collection

Suchana was a large-scale, multi-sector nutrition programme in Bangladesh, implemented from July 2015 to December 2023, that aimed to reduce the incidence of stunting among children under two years of age in Sylhet division by breaking the intergenerational cycle of malnutrition. Working with a total of 235,500 poor and very poor beneficiary households across 157 unions of 20 upazilas in Sylhet and Moulvibazar, the programme used a multi-sectoral approach to improve nutrition governance, strengthen inclusive government service delivery, increase economic empowerment, and improve the knowledge, skills and power of women and adolescent girls, while generating evidence to inform policy and replication. Led by Save the Children Bangladesh, Suchana was implemented by a consortium of national and international NGOs including Helen Keller International (HKI), International Development Enterprises (iDE), WorldFish (WF), Center for Natural Resource Studies (CNRS), Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB), Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Services (RDRS) and icddr,b as research partner. The programme was jointly funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and the European Union (EU). This collection brings together key Suchana resources, including programme documents, evaluations, research outputs, case studies, stories and learning materials that capture the programme’s approach, evidence and lessons.
