About the collection
Save the Children’s long history of working with communities has made the organization a recognized leader in effectively working with communities through SBC and community health. Our SBC programs and approaches are designed to understand and respond to harmful gender norms and challenge the social, structural and environmental inequities that affect development outcomes for children and their communities. We have developed an integrated, theory-based SBC framework based on the socio- ecological model to determine the relative weight of specific social and behavioral determinants that make healthy practices difficult or impossible, allowing us to identify tailored and suitable SBC strategies. This integrated approach ensures that strategic communication and behavioral insights projects are more community oriented while focusing community engagement programming more on behavior and social norm change outcomes. We are also able to link SBC with community health approaches, including community service delivery, community-to-facility linkages for quality improvement programming, and small group outreach approaches such as care groups, as well as tailor multi-sectoral SBC strategies for food security programming, and effective RCCE approaches for emerging infectious diseases, including COVID-19. Our collection consists of a routinely updated, wide selection of tools and approaches developed by our team and projects.
