A Children's Emergency

Over a five-month period, 655,500 people have fled widespread violence in Myanmar, 58 percent of whom are children. Once in Cox Bazar, Bangladesh, these children report witnessing indiscriminate abuses, the killing of loved ones, and the destruction of their communities. While the Rohingya children in Cox Bazar have reached refuge away from the ongoing horrors in Myanmar, life in the refugee camps presents many new challenges.

In a new, collaborative report, Save the Children, World Vision, and Plan International emphasize the voices of the children affected by the Rohingya crisis. The challenges these children experience are distinctly different from those of the adults; hence, children are the most suited to communicate their needs. The child consultation report, Childhood Interrupted: Children’s voices from the Rohingya Refugee Crisis, has gathered the thoughts, needs, dreams, and desires of Rohingya Children.
